Together, theyāve had the privilege of speaking with MSU veterinary students, high school and college classes, new veterinarians, technicians, CSRs, assistants, and even elementary students who dream of becoming veterinarians someday. Every time, one thing stood out ā how captivated people were by Dr. Harrisonās quiet wisdom, compassion, and perspective.
Over the last 20+ years, our clients and the general public have constantly asked, āWhatās it really like to work in a veterinary hospital?ā and so many have shared, āI always wanted to be a veterinarian!ā The curiosity about what goes on behind the scenes has never faded ā and honestly, we love that about our community.
So, our team came to me with an idea: āBrittany, you have to get Dr. Harrison to share his stories!ā
And after some gentle convincing (and maybe a little bit of begging š), he finally agreed.
Now, if you know Dr. Harrison, you know heās a man of few words ā at least when it comes to talking about himself. Heāll talk your ear off about your pet, your family, or how proud he is of his team, but when the spotlight turns his way, heās suddenly quiet. Heās far more comfortable listening than being the center of attention, which makes this series all the more special.
For years, Dr. Harrison has mentored people of all ages ā from curious elementary students to aspiring veterinarians ā and he often says that being a veterinarian is his God-given gift. Itās what gives him purpose every day, but also a deep sense of responsibility to his patients, clients, and team.
That mix of humility, heart, and quiet faith is exactly what makes his reflections so meaningful.
Starting next Tuesday, weāll be sharing a new series of posts:
Real-life lessons from 23 years in veterinary medicine ā told by Dr. Harrison.
Some stories will make you laugh, some will tug at your heart, and others will show the honest, behind-the-scenes side of what it truly means to work in this profession.
And because no veterinarian does this alone, weāll also be sharing stories and insights from our incredible Tawas Animal Hospital team ā the nurses, assistants, CSRs, and technicians who make it all possible.
Weāre so proud of Dr. Harrison for stepping outside his comfort zone to share his experiences ā and we canāt wait for you to follow along.
